TAMPA, Fla. (January 26, 2015) — The fantastic Zootastic Family Fest returns Saturday, February 28 in St. Petersburg. The day-long event (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) takes place at two adjacent Pinellas County cultural institutions – Great Explorations Children's Museum and Sunken Gardens – and was created in partnership with Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo and its Zoo Ventures outreach team, exciting educational programs featuring live animals.
“The first Zootastic event was a big success with total attendance close to 2,000 guests,” said Angeline Howell, CEO of Great Explorations. “We hope to exceed that number this year. It's a great opportunity for Tampa Bay area residents to experience three great family-friendly institutions in one day -- at bargain rates.”
Guests at the two St. Petersburg attractions can mingle with the Zoo’s animal ambassadors and their trainers throughout the day, as well as attend animal shows like “Zoo Keeping 101” and “Native Florida Wildlife.” Animal ambassadors include small mammals, birds reptiles and more. The day will also include educational display and hands-on-activities.
A new feature of this year's event will be the Giving Tree Music Drum Circle, an interactive opportunity for guests to sing, laugh, drum and dance as they explore concepts like synergy trust, being in the moment and striving to reach human potential.
Advance admission for the day for both Pinellas attractions can be purchased online at www.ZootasticFamilyFest.org. On the day of the event, admission at the door will be $10 per person, including members.
Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, Great Explorations Children’s Museum and Sunken Gardens gratefully acknowledge Community Foundation of Tampa Bay who made this event possible.
