About: Tembikai

The Zoo is home to a breeding pair of tapirs known as “Ubi” and “Albert.” On January 30, 2015, Ubi gave birth to their second offspring, a male named “Tembikai.” With just 35 of these magnificent Malayan mammals in the managed population, every birth is significant.

Tapir calves weigh approximately 15 pounds at birth. An adult male can weigh up to 700 pounds.
