About: Ahadi

A southern white rhinoceros was born May 21 to first time mother “Alake,” originally from the Phinda Reserve in Africa. Her name, “Ahadi,” means “promise” in Swati, a representation of the Zoo’s commitment to preserving this endangered species. This captivating calf loves splashing in puddles and running laps around her habitat.

Rhino calves weigh approximately 80-140 pounds at birth. Adult females can reach up to 4,500 pounds.
