Mock Manatee Rescue

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is one of only three facilities that provides critical care to the endangered Florida manatee. Find out if you have what it takes to be a part of the Manatee Rehabilitation Team by participating in your very own Mock Manatee Rescue. Participants will be part of a performance-based experience to learn about Tampa’s world class Manatee Hospital and practice the steps taken to provide care to this native Florida species.

Program Information:

  • Program designed for ages 3-10 years.
  • Program is approximately 30-45 minutes.
  • Maximum capacity is 15-60 participants, including chaperones.
  • Large groups must be divided into groups of 30 or less.
  • Cost is $10 per student and extra chaperones.
  • Cost includes 1 free chaperone per 10 students
  • Zoo access is not included in program cost.
  • Program must be scheduled in advance.
  • Live animals are not included in the presentation.

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is operated by the Lowry Park Zoological Society, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to excellence in education, conservation and research. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and is featured among the “Top 25 Zoos in the U.S” by TripAdvisor (2015) and “10 Best Zoos in the U.S.” by Trekaroo (2015). The Zoo is located at 1101 W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa, one mile west of I-275 (exit 48) and is open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
