Special Event Volunteer Opportunities

A great way for businesses or students to get involved is to volunteer for one of our special events throughout the year. For businesses, it’s a chance to get your employees involved in a memorable and fun team-building exercise. For students, it’s a great way to earn your required service hours!

No long-term commitment or experience necessary. You may sign up as a group or individually.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • All volunteers must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
  • All volunteers must be reliable, hardworking and possess strong leadership skills.
  • All volunteers must complete an Individual Volunteer Application.
  • All volunteers must complete a Release of Liability.
  • Creatures of the Night and Christmas in the Wild volunteers must work the entire shift.

Adult Volunteers (21+)

  • Feast with the Beasts

    Food festival (corporate and group contacts only)
  • Zoo Run Run

    5K runs inside the Zoo
  • Karamu

    Black tie dinner

Student Volunteers (15+)

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is operated by the Lowry Park Zoological Society, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to excellence in education, conservation and research. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and is featured among the “Top 25 Zoos in the U.S” by TripAdvisor (2015) and “10 Best Zoos in the U.S.” by Trekaroo (2015). The Zoo is located at 1101 W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa, one mile west of I-275 (exit 48) and is open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
