Daily Premium Experience - Elephant Specialty

This unique experience travels behind-the-scenes to provide exclusive interactions with many of our Zoo animals, including our African elephants. While itineraries change daily, these experiences may include the opportunity to hand feed lowland anoa, toss some squirmy enrichment treats to our meerkats and tour the David A. Straz Manatee rescue facility.

Daily Premium Experience

Embark on a journey behind-the-scenes for a special up-close experience with the wild animals at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo. While itineraries change daily, these small group experiences may include the opportunity to touch a White Rhinocerous, hand-feed a Florida Key Deer or hand-feed an Emu. This walking tour provides fantastic photo opportunities and one-of-a-kind memories.

Animal Careers Workshop

Calling all Millennials! It’s your time to be a change agent for planet Earth. Find out what it takes to become a next generation professional in the zoo and aquarium field. This experience includes an animal encounter, enrichment or husbandry experience, and a behind-the-scenes look at animal care at the Zoo.

Reptiles & Aquatics Workshop

Do you love all things scaly and slimy? Join us for a closer look at the Zoo’s reptiles, amphibians, fish and more, and find out what it takes to be a next generation professional in the zoo and aquarium field. This experience includes an up-close encounter with one of our reptile animal ambassadors and a behind-the-scenes look at our herpetology and or aquatics department.

Wetlands Connection Science Safari

Looking for an educational experience about Florida’s environment? This program is perfect for learning about the vital role that wetlands play in Florida’s ecology. While at the Zoo, your group will participate in an experiment, have an encounter with an Animal Ambassador, go on a scavenger hunt and more.


Get ready for an amazing nighttime adventure! Fun for everyone, this unique program is perfect for birthdays, schools, scouts, clubs and friends.

ZooVentures Theater

Home to the Birds of Prey Show and other special events, ZooVentures Theater is an open-air amphitheater in the Florida Wildlife section of the Zoo. Be sure to check out the daily schedule of live shows when you plan your trip—there's always something happening onstage! It's the perfect place to sit back, relax and learn more about our living world.

Wallaroo Mining Company

At the Wallaroo Mining Company, you will discover gemstones from around the world! This hands on educational activity allows guests of all ages to experience the mining process while learning all about the different gems and minerals they find. After the reveal of the gems, the prospectors get to take home what they find!

Inside Look Tour

Take a sneak peek behind-the-scenes at the inner workings of the Zoo. During this program, your group will visit the Zoo’s commissary where the animals’ diets are made, our Veterinary Clinic and tour our world-class manatee hospital.

African Safari Kids Only Sleepover – February 18

Enjoy a night out while the kids enjoy a night at the Zoo! Take a nighttime safari through dense forests and wide-open savannas to discover some of the animals of this mysterious continent.

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is operated by the Lowry Park Zoological Society, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to excellence in education, conservation and research. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and is featured among the “Top 25 Zoos in the U.S” by TripAdvisor (2015) and “10 Best Zoos in the U.S.” by Trekaroo (2015). The Zoo is located at 1101 W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa, one mile west of I-275 (exit 48) and is open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
