To honor our Active Duty service members, Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is happy to provide complimentary admission to those who serve! Active Duty Service members are eligible for up to 4 tickets per year, or every 12 months for one-time use.

What is this program?

Armed Forces Salute is a way for us to thank the men and women of the U.S. armed forces including active duty military, reserve soldiers, airmen, Marines, sailors and Coast Guardsmen.

What does it include?

Armed Forces Salute offers complimentary admission to any U.S. active duty military, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman to one complimentary admission per year for military personnel and up to three direct dependents. This offer is valid for one visit only.

Do military retirees or civilians working for the Department of Defense qualify?

Only U.S. active duty military qualify for the Armed Forces Salute program. Military retirees can purchase single-day admissions with a significant discount at MacDill AFB.

Do reservists and National Guardsmen qualify?

YES, all ready reservists and members of the National Guard, regardless of deployment status, qualify.

What if there are more people in my family than the 4 complimentary tickets?

You may purchase additional tickets to the Zoo by visiting the base MWR office at MacDill Air Force Base.

My spouse is serving overseas. Can dependents visit the park without their service member?

Yes, you simply need to verify the active duty members military status using Sheer ID online. While, spouses & family members of military personnel can create a Sheer ID, the complimentary/discounted tickets are only accessible to those accounts verified as a service member. Once verified you can print out up to three direct dependent single-day admission tickets.

I am a single parent serving overseas and my children are living with a relative. How can my kids visit?

The primary caregiver should contact the Guest Relations team at the Zoo. They will make accommodations for minor dependents. Proof of military status and deployment is required.

I am service member from an Allied country, does this program apply to me?

No, Armed Forces Salute is exclusive to U.S. military members.

What is Sheer ID?

Sheer ID is a credential issued that allows verified members of the military community (e.g. Active Duty, Veterans, Retirees, Military Spouses and Military Family Members) to access programs intended exclusively for members of the military community.

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is operated by the Lowry Park Zoological Society, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to excellence in education, conservation and research. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and is featured among the “Top 25 Zoos in the U.S” by TripAdvisor (2015) and “10 Best Zoos in the U.S.” by Trekaroo (2015). The Zoo is located at 1101 W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa, one mile west of I-275 (exit 48) and is open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
